hello, happy monday! how was your weekend? mine was filled to the brim with the fair, the beach, the mall, and taking cheerleaders to rising star.
i didn’t have much time to read this weekend but i have been reading these books. i kind of read more than one book at the same time. call it ADD, call it whatever you want. unless it’s a real page turner, like the hunger games or the passage trilogy then i get bored or i want more information all at once. so here is what i am reading right now. i hope to read much more this summer :)
martha stewart’s homekeeping handbook
i haven’t a clue about true housekeeping and i feel like i could be doing a much better job. who else would i turn to but martha? this is an in depth detailed manual on everything you could possibly need to clean or maintain in your home. i like the daily, weekly, monthly schedules – that really helps me to see what should be done and how often.
parenting with love and logic
this is the best tool for any kind of discipline. letting logical and natural consequences be the punishment instead of me being the bad guy. “you didn’t want to bring your jacket. and now you’re cold? oh that’s too bad.” guess what? they’ll remember to bring their jacket next time, but i could have nagged them 200 times and it wouldn’t have worked. this works. makes perfect sense. i feel the burden of being the bad guy lifted off and i feel so much more powerful with logical consequences. my kids are mad at the consequence and/or their choice, not at me :)
the maze runner
this is drawing me in, a little addicting. i have to admit i picked it up because there is a maze runner movie coming out. so far it’s good. i am at the beginning which is all very mysterious, i just hope all the big build up isn’t a let down.
my granddad recommended robert parker’s detective novels from the 70’s and 80’s. they sound good so i plan to try him out this summer.
what’s on your reading list for the summer?
